Activity: Start a Sound Off
- Materials:
- none
- Time:
- 15 minutes
- Skills:
- Language sounds
Repeat the sounds your baby makes, and then make some of your own to expand his repertoire.
If your baby says, “ba, ba, ba” you can say it back to him so he hears what he’s just said. Then try saying, “ma, ma, ma” and see if he’ll copy you. Whatever sounds he makes, try changing the initial consonant sound. When he mimics you readily you know he’s ripe for learning how to make new sounds.
