Learning Tip: Shopping for letters

Each time you take your child to the grocery store, choose a letter. Ask your child to find things that start with that letter sound. If the letter is C, some items you may find are carrots and ketchup—these start with the sound /k/.

This builds the sound memory needed prior to learning to read.
